Adding Estimate Revisions

Using the estimate window, you can perform several actions including several estimate options for the same Job. How many times has your client said, "What's the impact on price if you do this or this or this?" You can generate the multiple scenarios (and pricing) for the Job in this window. Just keep clicking Add Revision, make your changes, and then click Save Changes. e·silentpartner will save each estimate revision in its entirety.

Adding Change Order Estimates

You can also use the estimate feature to record amendments to the original estimate. How many times during the course of a project are there changes to the initially approved scope of work? Sometimes these changes ("scope creep") are subtle; more often they are significant. Too often, the client will verbally approve the expansion of work until they receive the bill!

Consider this: Wouldn't it be beneficial to document the changes AND the revised estimate price, while submitting the revised estimate to the client for their review and approval before you do the work, irrespective of the scope of the changes to the estimate? This mitigates any misunderstanding by both parties – your client verbally approves the scope change yet believes they will receive the changes at the initial price and you misunderstanding that the work increase approved by the client will be paid.

Here’s how to handle a scope change! Click ‘Add Revision’ to add another version of the estimate.

Click the check box next to both estimates and then select Approve. Now, both estimates as the master estimate for the project.

💡
Using the ‘Historical’ version print option and selecting the two estimates, you can show the client the original and additional amount in one estimate.
